Snippely by Valerio Proietti and Tom Occhino

With the recent onset of Adobe’s great AIR™ runtime and from the makers of the wonderful MooTools comes a long awaited Snippely. The AIR™ runtime lets developers use certain web technologies to build cross-platform desktop applications. MooTools is an Object-Oriented JavaScript framework that allows you to write cross-browser code. Together the developers of MooTools, Valerio Proietti and Tom Occhino have developed Snippely, which to me has been a prayer answered.

I had tons of “Snips” all over my hard drive, as I’ve been doing quite a bit of web development as of late. With Snippely, I’ve not only been able to clean house, but I have been able to add to my collection of “Snips” much more easily with a much higher organizational track. Let the pack rat resume, yeah!

Months ago, I found myself on one of my midnight searches for something just of this caliber. I for one am so thankful for it’s creation and I am looking forward to more from the developers of MooTools and Snippely. (link)

gPhone - Goggle Mobile O/S - "Android"

Excerpts from the ManilaTimes.net

…Google has opened a battle for dominance of the mobile Internet with a broad alliance of companies backing its “open source” software for mobile devices… The announcement Monday of the “Android” platform aiming to bring the full power of desktop computing to mobile devices represents a challenge to Microsoft and Apple… Greg Sterling, analyst at Search Engine Land, said Google is taking on companies like Microsoft, which has its own Windows Mobile platform for smartphones… Google said the new initiative, which should be available next year, offers first comprehensive mobile operating platform that software developers are free to adapt in any way they wish for video, audio, social networking and other features…“Imagine not just a single Google phone, or gPhone, but thousands of gPhones made by a variety of manufacturers.”-AFP

I don’t know about everyone else in the world, but this has long been coming and anticipated. I know after reading about Google’s new venture, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to develop for the new Open Source mobile platform.

The Open Handset Alliance will make the “Android” Software Development Kit available to developers on November 12, 2007. I’ve marked my calendar, have you? (link)

Folderlister v1.0 P-Edge Media written by Martin van Spanje

I know at one point or another, whether you are a developer, forums moderator or daily mac user, you will need this great little application.  Folderlister is a must have.  With its’ easy drag and drop interface,  you can create an instant list of the entire contents of any folder on your hard drive and without having to use the command line utility. When another developer is yelling for a list of all the files you’ve downloaded from SVN or you just want to give your best friend a list of all your iTunes songs, here ya go. (link)  If you find this application useful, please don’t forget to donate.  Remember developers make your life easier, and we’ve got to eat too!
